Generic Zithromax (azithromycin) is a broad spectrum macrolide antibiotic that possesses bacteriostatic action. Therapeutic action is achieved due to binding to 50S- ribosomal subunits and consecutive suppression of protein synthesis. In high concentration the medications exerts bactericidal effects. It acts both on intra- and extracellular pathogens.
Indications:
Generic Zithromax is used to treat a wide variety of infections including:
- Respiratory tract infections including ENT infections , pneumonia, sinusitis, throat infections
- Infections of the skin and soft tissues
- Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
- Sexually transmitted diseases including gonorrhea, chlamydia and chanchroid
- Urogenital infections
- Lyme disease (Borreliosis)
- Diseases of the stomach and duodenum associated with Helicobacter pylori
