Drug name: Generic Zantac (Ranitidine)
Therapeutic effects: The preparation belongs to a group of drugs called II generation H2-histamine receptor blockers. The drugs mechanism of action consists of inhibition of H2 histamine receptors in the parietal cells of the stomach. The drug suppresses secretion of hydrochloric acid, decreases the volume of gastric juice, decreases pepsine activity, promotes protective mechanisms of the stomach mucous and affects the healing of the stomach lining. In dosages of 150mg inhibits secretion of gastric juice for 8-12 hours.
Indications: The preparation is normally administered in prophylaxis and treatment of:
- Gastric and duodenal ulcers
- NSAID's induced gastropathy
- Gastric juice hypersecretion
- Symptomatic ulcers
- Stress induced ulcers
- Erosive esophagitis
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
- Dyspepsia
- Gastrointestinal bleeding in post-surgical period
- Systemic mastocitosis
- Reflux-esophagitis
