Drug name: Generic Plavix (Clopidogrel)
Therapeutic effects: The preparation works by irreversibly binding to thrombocyte ADP-receptors. Thus inhibiting thrombocyte aggregation. The affected thrombocytes remain inactive for their whole life-cycle of 7 days. The aggregation of thrombocytes becomes slower within 2 hours after the administration. The maximal effect of the drug is developed within 4 to 7 days during constant administration of the drug in dosages of 50 to 100 mg per day. The overall blood clotting function returns to normal within 5 days after cessation of therapy.
In cases of atherosclerotic vessel disease the drug prevents the formation of aterothrombosis.
